Photographer Spotlight: David Vazquez Jr

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?
Wow where do I begin, I guess what made photography an interest for me was watching my Dad using an old range finder and producing really cool slides.

How did you get your current position?
I am a self starter and I learned by asking other photographers for pointers, both in the dark room and well as the basic mechanics like balancing light and composition.( manual settings)

How did your training or schooling prepare you for your job?
My training in photography started at a very early age, which progressed, through high school, college and my military obligation.

What was the greatest obstacle you had to overcome in pursuing your career?
My greatest obstacles in photography was the transition from advanced amateur to a professional photographer! Which means Getting paid!!!!!

Who would you name as the most influential person in shaping your career?  Why?
My greatest influence is John Sexton the master of Black and white his images have a different and profound feeling, simply put? Works of art! An other artist like David Zizer who master Wedding Photography, I would say made my decision to pursue wedding photography as a career! Photography is like ice cream! it comes in many different flavors… .The most important thing is loving what you do and getting paid….

If you could be compensated for your work with something other than money, what would it be? Building a friendship! and networking! as well as teaching to those whom are less fortunate!
