Photographer: Jen Rozenbaum

This week’s artist is a Photographer. Teacher. Speaker. #shamelesslyfeminine Nikon Ambassador Westcott Elite Pro. Her work is heartfelt, tells a story that needs to be heard. Every beautiful image is powerful. Enjoy!

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?

I didn’t choose photography. It chose me. I picked up a camera and taught myself photography in 2008. I was going through a really hard time in my life and I taught myself photography as a distraction.

How did you get your current position?

My current position is working for myself. Being an entrepreneur allows me to be flexible in my schedule and still allows for me to be present with my children. I have the best of both worlds.

How did your training or schooling prepare you for your job?

I am completely self taught – and still learning!

What was the greatest obstacle you had to overcome in pursuing your career?

The greatest obstacle I had and still have in my career is when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. For the last 2.5 years I have been going through surgeries and treatments and at the same time still trying to sustain my business.

Who would you name as the most influential person in shaping your career? Why?

I would say the women I photograph. They have changed my life in instrumental ways. They have allowed me to see strength and beauty and what women are capable of.

If you could be compensated for your work with something other than money, what would it be?

Whenever I do free/volunteer work I always ask that people pay it forward in any way they can.
