When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?I’ve always wanted to draw as a kid and always enjoyed photography. I became a huge fan of the epic and dramatic look that you in experience in Cinema. Movies like Gladiator, Gone with the winds, The Matrix, Saving private Ryan or Sherlock Holmes has such distinct drama with amazing sunsets, clouds and color themes.I know most of it is not real, but I still love it. Some of my photos are heavily retouched some are not what I’m looking for is something that communicate a message, something epic and adventure. When I was 35, a friend of mine showed me Photoshop. It was…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you? I am one of those very lucky people that discovered my passion for photography at a young age. By age 12 I had discovered photography and by age 15 I had official started a portrait and wedding photography business. I started attending classes and events for my local PPA (Professional Photographers of America) chapter when I was 15 or 16. I’ve been passionate about photography for more than half of my life as one of my central driving forces. How did you get your current position? Most people like to believe that there was some sort of ‘big break’. Alas, that is not…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you? I fell in love with photography at age 9 after I broke my uncle’s photography equipment. He was so upset with what I did and I started wandering about what he was doing with his cameras? After getting an understanding of photography I fell in love with it. How did you get your current position? Work. Working hard every day. Llearning something new every chance I got and pushing myself out of my box. How did your training or schooling prepare you for your job? Education is very important to me. Along with my education is the importance of people who inspire me…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you? I took a photography class my senior year of high school and was hooked instantly! It was exciting to see my images magically appear in the developer. What I didn’t understand then, but came to understand in time, is that I am a communicator at heart. Photography became my artistic form of communication. It’s the path I chose professionally, and never wavered from it. How did you get your current position? I worked diligently to create my career. First I got my BA degree at Brooks Institute (back when it was THE Brooks Institute), and then I struggled through the “school of hard…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?I realized that photography was important to me at the very beginning of my career as a naturalist/conservationist 40 years ago. There is an old saying that states, “We protect what we love, we love what we understand, and we understand what we are taught.” Short of actually bringing people into the field with me to work with wildlife, photos were the best tools I had to tell the stories behind conservation and the importance of it. How did you get your current position? I started as a zookeeper and as I worked my way up the ranks, I started to publish papers on some…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?I felt hints of it while I was in middle school. That’s when I built a 110 camera out of a kit, similar to how kids build model cars from a box of plastic parts. I remember taking a photo in Washington D.C. that looked exactly like a postcard. Photography was a serious hobby through high school and college, (both 35mm and 4×5 view cameras) but then I got distracted by graphic design for a decade or so. It’s once photography went digital that my passion for computers and photography could be merged into a profession. How did you get your current position? Back in…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?I never went in to the art of photography with intention. For me, like a lot of photographers, it just sort of happens to you and you go with it. I did go in to the business of photography with intent but I don’t ever remember having a moment where I consciously thought about it being “for me”. It might be disappointing to hear but I don’t feel called or destined to do what I do. I love it. It drives me every day and fulfills my need to create, but I could see myself doing a lot of different things as the years…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you?I picked up my first camera when I was nine years of age and fell in love with it then. By my sophomore year in high school I was one of the school photographers and we’d publish a monthly newspaper and a 475-page thick yearbook. This was a rather larger operation for a high school of a town of about 55,000 people. My junior year I was the head photographer and my senior year I became the head of darkroom operations above the new head photographer. I actually received a college scholarship from Union Carbide to later work there in my senior year, and…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you? I’ve always loved both photography and flying, but had never considered either as a career. It wasn’t until I attended a meeting of the International Society for Aviation Photography that I realized how my two passions could be combined. How did you get your current position? Many late nights in front of the computer, and many early mornings on the airport ramp. Like anything else, it takes dedication and hard work. How did your training or schooling prepare you for your job? Being a pilot and doing formation flying training has helped because it gives me a firsthand understanding of…

When did you know the photography/video industry was for you? Wow where do I begin, I guess what made photography an interest for me was watching my Dad using an old range finder and producing really cool slides. How did you get your current position? I am a self starter and I learned by asking other photographers for pointers, both in the dark room and well as the basic mechanics like balancing light and composition.( manual settings) How did your training or schooling prepare you for your job? My training in photography started at a very early age, which progressed, through high school, college and my military obligation. What was…
